ALS SHS Student Grade 11 - Grade 12

FEMALE DORMITORY, BJMP

Inside the Female Dormitory of BJMP Iloilo City, education becomes a powerful tool for hope, transformation, and second chances. Through partnerships with institutions like St. Robert’s International College and other education providers, female persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are given the opportunity to continue learning, earn senior high school diplomas, and pursue vocational and academic strands such as HUMSS, GAS, ABM and STEM

Student life within the dormitory is guided by structure, discipline, and a deep desire for personal growth. Classrooms are set up in secure yet encouraging spaces where learners participate in academic discussions, reflections, writing exercises, and even skills-based training. With the help of volunteer teachers and jail education coordinators, learning is made accessible and meaningful.

The environment fosters healing and community. Peer tutoring, support groups, and group projects help build confidence and cooperation. Education empowers the women not only with knowledge, but with dignity — giving them a sense of purpose and a brighter outlook for the future.

MALE DORMITORY, BJMP

Inside the Male Dormitory of BJMP Iloilo City, education serves as a vital bridge to change and redemption. Through collaborative efforts with learning institutions such as St. Robert’s International College and ALS (Alternative Learning System) programs, male persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) are given the chance to pursue basic and senior high school education across various strands like ABM, HUMSS, GAS, and STEM.

Despite the limitations of incarceration, student life is active and filled with purpose. Class sessions are conducted regularly within secured and structured learning spaces. Learners engage in academic subjects, technical skills training, values education, and livelihood programs that strengthen their minds and rebuild their spirits.

Peer mentoring and collaborative learning promote unity, discipline, and leadership among the students. Whether solving math problems, discussing societal issues, or learning computer literacy, each learning activity builds not only knowledge but also self-worth and accountability.

With the guidance of dedicated educators, jail officers, and volunteers, the male PDLs are empowered to dream again — to rebuild their lives with education as their foundation. For many, this journey marks a new chapter filled with hope, dignity, and transformation.

REGULAR ALS STUDENTS

T Alternative Learning System (ALS) offers a second chance at education — and for regular ALS students at St. Robert’s International College, this journey is one of resilience, hope, and transformation.

ALS regular students come from diverse backgrounds: out-of-school youth, working learners, young parents, and those who paused their education for personal reasons. Despite these challenges, they are united by one goal — to complete their education and create a better future.

Beyond academics, ALS students are encouraged to participate in school activities, livelihood training, and values formation programs. They are empowered to regain confidence, find their voice, and develop a strong sense of purpose.
